Which file types can I use and upload?

Our system requires PDF's, ideally optimised for print production.

To optimise your PDF for print production, follow these steps:

  1. High Resolution Images: Ensure all images are in CMYK colour mode and have a resolution of at least 300 DPI for crisp printing.
  2. Bleed and Crop Marks: Extend design elements and images slightly beyond the page edges to accommodate trimming variations. Add crop marks to indicate where the trims should be made.
  3. CMYK Colour Mode: Convert all colors to CMYK to ensure accurate colour reproduction on the printed material.
  4. Font Embedding: Embed all fonts to avoid potential display issues. Use standard fonts to prevent unexpected substitutions.
  5. PDF/X Standard: Save your PDF using the PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-4 standard for compatibility with print workflows.
  6. Image Compression: Compress images using lossless methods to reduce file size without sacrificing quality.
  7. Overprint Preview: Check for overprint issues by using the overprint preview mode to ensure colors and elements interact correctly.
  8. Rich Black: When using large black areas, create a rich black by adding a percentage of cyan, magenta, and yellow to avoid a washed-out appearance.
  9. Proofreading: Double-check the content for errors, typos, and layout issues before finalising the PDF.
  10. Preflight Tool: Run a preflight check using software like Adobe Acrobat Pro or other preflight tools to identify potential printing problems.
  11. File Naming: Use a clear, descriptive file name that includes version information to avoid confusion.
